Testing Underway at Bauneg Beg Lake to Demonstrate Effectiveness of Nutrient Removal Barrier

Mackworth-Enviro designed a triple-barrier filter system to reduce the total phosphorus entering Bauneg Beg Lake in Sanford, Maine, and installed the system in a tributary to the lake this past spring.

The nutrient reduction barrier was implemented as a trial solution to address nutrient runoff from a local golf course into the lake, which has experienced elevated algae growth in recent years.

A testing program has been implemented by the local Lake Association.
