Intake Protection Season Complete for 11th Year of CWA 316(b) Compliance in Excluding Fish Eggs

Mackworth-Enviro Operations Manager Christian Guelke reports that Mackworth-Enviro crews have completed winter retrieval of the Fish Exclusion System at the Taunton River Desalination Plant in Dighton, Massachusetts.

The Fish Exclusion System helps to prevent fish, fish eggs and larvae from being drawn into the plant's intake system from the river.

It was originally designed and installed to coincide with the water treatment plant's 2008 startup, to ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act's requirement for intakes to incorporate the Best Technology Available for the protection of fish populations.
